NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) comes under the Skill Development Ministry (DGT – Directorate General of Training) of the Government of India. NCVT sets the national standard of syllabus, exam, certificate, and training for ITI (Industrial Training Institute) across India.

The ITI (Industrial Training Programme) is such a training programme that mostly focuses on practical work rather than theoretical work. This is not a normal school or college education; it’s a skill-based training programme. Where there is more hands-on practical work, you grasp all concepts in depth, and that’s why your value increases in the industry, and getting a job becomes easier for you.

After passing the ITI (Industrial Training Institute) exam, you have many good career options – a job, further studies, and also the opportunity to start your own business. I am explaining all the options category-wise below:

1-Do Apprenticeship

👉 After passing the ITI exam, you get the opportunity to undergo training, which is called an apprenticeship. In this, you learn to do real work and also get paid in the form of a salary. Once you have this experience, you can apply for a job in a good company.

2-Government Jobs

👉 After ITI, you can get a government job in many departments, if your trade matches:

• Railways (RRB) – There are vacancies every year for Technician, Fitter, and Welder.
• SSC (Staff Selection Commission) – ITI holders are eligible for MTS, Technician, etc.
• DRDO / ISRO – There are posts for Technician Apprentice.
• PSUs (BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, SAIL, etc.) – Trade Apprenticeship and Technician jobs are available in these.
• Electricity Board – There is direct recruitment for Electrician and Lineman.
• Army / Navy / Air Force – ITI students are eligible for Technical trades.

3-Private Sector Jobs

👉 After passing the ITI, you can also get a job in the private sector.

• Manufacturing Companies – Tata Motors, Hero, Maruti, etc.
• Electrical Companies – Havells, L&T, Siemens, etc.
• IT Companies (COPA Trade) – Wipro, Infosys, for a Data Entry role.
• Construction Companies – L&T, Shapoorji, site electrician, plumber, fitter.

4-Further Study Options

👉For those students who want to continue studying, there are options:

• Diploma in Engineering – After ITI, you get direct admission in the 2nd year.
• Apprenticeship Training – You get 1–2 years of real experience in the workplace and also a stipend.
• NAC Certificate – After apprenticeship, you get a National Apprenticeship Certificate.
• Short-Term Courses – Courses like CNC, AutoCAD, and Solar Technician make you a specialist.

To take admission in NCVT ITI (National Council for Vocational Training – Industrial Training Institute) colleges is so easy. You will just have to follow some basic steps. Here I am explaining the whole process in simple steps:

Step 1: Check Eligibility Criteria:

• Qualification: Minimum 8th, 10th, or 12th class pass students can apply.
• Age: Your minimum age should be 14 years (some states have an upper age limit around 40 years).
• Nationality: Indian citizens are allowed to apply only.

Step 2: Apply on the State-wise Online ITI Portal

• Every state has its own online ITI admission portal. You have to go to the portal of your state and register, and fill in the choices.

Step 3: Fill out the online form:

• You will have to apply for a new registration on the portal.
• You have to upload your personal details, qualifications, trade preference, and documents.
• Pay the application fee (fee varies state-wise).
• Submit the application form.

Step 4: Merit List & Counseling

• Your state authority releases a merit list.
• You are allotted a seat through the counseling round.
• You can accept the seat, complete the document verification process, and get admission.
